This modern duplex dwelling located at a thriving but peaceful location in the heart of Sydney’s southeastern costal suburb, Matraville. Each unit of the dwelling house is consisted with 4 to 5 large bedrooms, open layout for kitchen and dining, underground storage for flexible use as well as central atrium, backyard with spa pool.
A feature wall organically integrated with landscaping was introduced to blur the edge between two proposed dwelling houses. While keeping a pleasing and symmetrical front elevation, our design team played with a wide range of forms and materials to test what work properly with respect of client’s preference and respond to the lively and relaxing lives in local community. Inspired by the modern minimalist, fully white rendered exterior with proportions of natural stone and timber to enhance the costal culture made up this particular house in Matraville.
Internally, both of the units have efficiently utilized the total housing area, contained four or five bedrooms while outlining the open plan for kitchen & dinning and family living. Central atrium was introduced to bring brightness and playful spatial experience to both above-ground levels. The overall layout shows integrations of effectiveness and spaciousness to enhance the internal interaction and comfort.
