The linear modernity duplex situates in a leafy suburbia area of Eastwood with dual street frontages. Such double storey duplex development contains full sized garage and 5 bedrooms each side that maximised the site potential. The shifted and sculped forms coupling with the interplaying of locally founded material collaborated in different fashion allows the building to respond well to the immediate neighbours and two streets’ characters.
The angular and geometric form allows the proposed design to blend in with the immediate context where introduction of the earthy material, namely grey body limestone cladding, ankers the building down with the impression of stability. The choice of white washed timber and cladding brings back lightness to the building.
Internally this design takes inspiration from the rich vocabulary of traditional Chinese architecture where there is no straight visual link that reviews all the hidden jewels of the house. Each duplex has been designed to have public, semi-public, semi-private and private space functions. Within each space there will always be a framed view that cues the guest of the space beyond. Double height entrance lobby and semi-public lounge area brings abundance of light and liveness to the heart of the building that changes the experience and perception of traditional linear build form.
JRZ architectural team has successfully deliver the CDC approval for the client and currently assisting the client with the tending for construction process.
